TV of the 1950s

Although the world might have seemed on the brink of nuclear disaster, the fine folks in the entertainment history bravely attempted to focus our collective American attention on the puerile but rather pleasant episodes of daily living in these 48 (or was it 50?) states of the union.

Soon, our home TV screens were inundated with episodes ike these listed beow:

a) The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet

b) Our Miss Brooks

c) Father knows best

d) The Donna Reed Show

e) I love Lucy

f) I married Joan

g) The Danny Thomas Show

h) As the World turns

i) and more, of course

We had become anasthetized as a nation to the harsh reality of the era. Looking back, today, I wonder if the good citizens of the Soviet Union were as psychologically mesmerized with trivia as we were here in the States. But, we never seemed to ask such terrible questions even on CBS or NBC.
